Augusto Caraceni was born in Ortona (CH) in 1893 and from a young age together with his brothers learned the art of tailoring from his father Tommaso who had a tailor's shop in the village but was known throughout the region. When his elder brother, Domenico, opened his own tailor's shop in Rome, he called two of his brothers Galliano and Augusto to work with him and here Augusto had a great experience. In the '30s Augusto moved to Paris where he enjoyed great success in tailoring, with clients representing the most prominent figures of the time. In 1939 due to the outbreak of World War II Augusto, who in the meantime married and had 4 children, returned to Italy. In 1946 in Milan, in via Fatebenefratelli N°16, he opened his tailor's shop with a partner. In the same year, his young son Mario started working there and learning the art of tailoring. In 1972, after the death of Augusto, Mario named the tailor's shop in memory of his father and so the current header A was born. CARACENI. From 1972 to 1998 the business continued and prospered, acquiring an international clientele, thanks to Mario's determination and commitment, which kept the tradition high. Mario is awarded various prizes, including the Sant'Omobono and the Unione Milanese Sarti. In 1998 Mario retired leaving the company to his daughter Rita Maria and son-in-law Carlo Andreacchio, who had already been working with him for 20 years, Carlo as cutter and Rita Maria as administrator. Carlo has been a member of the Accademia dei Sartori since 1997 and in 2002 he received the gold medal from the Unione Milanese Sarti. Since 2004 their children, Massimiliano and Valentina, have also been working alongside them in their work, which has fascinated them since childhood, to continue the family tradition and be ready to receive the baton when their time comes!
